Starving for God
I started reading a book called Twenty-First Century Revival: Is it possible? by John Goetsch. My pastor, Dr. Rodney Kelley speaks often about personal revival, so it has been on my mind for quite some time. Can God bring revival to this wicked world as he has in the past, or is it too late? Have we gone so far that there is no turning back? In the book I was struck by this thought: “To be hungry is not enough. We must be starving to know God. When the prodigal son was hungry, he ate the husks with the pigs; but when he was starving, he turned his face back to his father.” Yes God certainly can and will bring revival to us if we starve for it. How hungry are you for revival?
The Value of a Soul
The theme for the Missions Month at West Jacksonville Baptist Church was “The Value of a Soul”. We can determine the value of something with this formula: “Something is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it.” That would make the soul of one person valued to God at a high price! Jesus gave his life! This missions conference has impacted the way I view souls, may the Lord never let me forget the value of a soul.
